SVBony SV106 50 mm Guide Scope Unboxing Installation First Impressions
Переглядів 10 тис.2 роки тому
SVBony SV106 Guide Scope: amzn.to/303lUey SVBony Dovetail Base: amzn.to/3oEjrkP Can you use a guide scope as a finder scope? I did. Here are my first impressions of the SVBONY 50 mm guide scope. While this seems to be a generic guide scope that has sold under different brand names, it doesn’t appear to be cheaply made. This appears to be a good quality product with excellent fit and finish. The...
How to clean telescope eyepieces
Переглядів 28 тис.6 років тому
I show you how to clean telescope eyepieces in this episode. While telescope eyepieces are generally maintenance-free, it’s good practice to keep your eyepieces clean. Over time, the oils on our skin will make the housing of our eyepieces sticky and this can attract dirt. Oils can also get on the lens which makes for a blurry view. Here are the tools I will use in this video: 1. Squeeze bulb ai...
Celestron AVX & ES ED102 Assembly | Farewell Skywatcher Dobsonian
Переглядів 29 тис.6 років тому
In my unboxing video, I just winged the assembly but I thought I was still able to assemble it somewhat, but I wasn’t sure what I was really doing. I didn’t know what that alignment peg was for, and what the two knobs were for. So in this video, I go into more detail about the proper way of how to assemble the Celestron Advanced VX mount, according to Celestron’s instruction manual. I also say ...

Perseids 2015 My First Astrophotography Attempt
Переглядів 4,9 тис.8 років тому
In this episode I make my first attempt in astrophotography under the height of the Perseids meteor shower of 2015. I used my Canon Rebel T3i which I am still not very familiar with. However, I was still able to snap up 3 decent looking photos of shooting stars. I still have a lot to learn in astrophotography like not shooting from an unstable deck and using a remote shutter. Anyway, if you lik...
How to Align a Finderscope for New Astronomers
Переглядів 703 тис.8 років тому
Aligning your finderscope is pretty easy and you can do this in under 5 minutes depending on how accurate you want it. Before you can align it, you have to make sure that you meet the following conditions: 1. Your finderscope has adjustable knobs. Some telescopes are fixed and therefore do not need to be adjusted. 2. If your finderscope is removable, tighten down the mounting screws to ensure i...
Binoculars & 5 Advantages Over Telescopes
Переглядів 102 тис.8 років тому
Binoculars are often overlooked by new astronomers because when they think about astronomy, they automatically think about telescopes. In reality, binoculars have an important place in stargazing, and many astronomers always bring them along. In fact, I always bring my pair along with me and use it interchangeably during a night out in the field. In this video, I highlight the 5 advantages of b...

Meade DS2090AT Beginner Amateur Astronomer's Review
Переглядів 7 тис.10 років тому
This is my review of the Meade DS2090AT-TC 90 mm refractor telescope as a beginner amateur astronomer. I have used this telescope for a month. I like its simple design, portability, and goto capability. However, the mount is just a bit too flimsy and the computer is not accurate sometimes. Overall, it is a good telescope for beginners.
How to use an Equatorial Mount for Beginners

How to determine the right ascension and declination motions using slow motion control knobs. Without getting too technical, I will describ...
Collimate a Telescope without a Cheshire
Переглядів 35 тис.10 років тому
In this video, I demonstrate how I collimate my 12" Sky-Watcher Flextube newtonian telescope on a dobsonian mount without a cheshire. There are 3 basic steps to collimating: 1) Center the secondary under the focuser; 2) Align the secondary to the primary; 3) Align the primary back to the secondary. Visit my website: www.newastronomer.com. This video was originally posted on Michael Bernardo's c...
Thank you for this video, great explanation!
Hey Michael, I am Michael!
Thank you very much.
The Celestron Astromaster 130 has a spherical mirror instead of a parabolic mirror.
Great video. Exactly what I needed.
Welcome back!
Thanks
If you are a new astronomer read the manual first.
Very good video, thanks.
Awesome input, thanks man. Wish I'd had an Astronomy professor like you in high-school
Every time I start looking at the night sky through telescopes or even camcorders...I start having these really wild and vivid dreams that won't let up for years! Maybe it's time again.
Celestron power seeker 127 is a hobby killer, a terrible choice due to its birds Jones design
Great video. I have been using a red dot finder. But my new 8x50 RACI finder scope will arrive today. So, I will get a chance to try it out. Thank you!
I tell you what! You are going to buy a laser collimator. Doing your method outdoor is too fiddly with pieces of paper and stuff.
Thank you! That's wonderful information to find for a first time owner.👍👍
this is really helpful! Thanks!!
I have this 🔭 national geographic 76/700 telescope All I can see is a blank ???
Thank you. You covered every question I had.
I picked a used DS2090 and the Autostar isn't very accurate despite 2 star alignment. The mount is too low and shakes too much when focusing. The stop in the tube was stopping the scope to 80mm so I moved it further down the tube. Moved the scope to a Celestron Heavy Duty Alt/AZ mount which is much steadier. What was really strange is the objective was flipped causing bad images at high magnification. I wouldn't recommend the scope based on the mount. Great video.
Hello sir, i stay in Delhi ncr (bortle-7) is it worth to buy a telescope at my place, will i be able to see things in the night sky. Should i buy an 8 inch dobsonian or 5 inch reflector. Please suggest me Thank you
Cool
Thanks for this detailed information.
Very good explanation!
Thanks for the video dude ! Super helpful
Great video!
Nice to see you back 😊 🔭
Good to see you back!
Glad to see your back. Please post more vids!
I don't understand the reason why you add powerseeker 127eq in the list 🤔🤔🤔. Once I owned this terrible scope. It is a hobby killer. It is very difficult to collimate and it never stay in place. It comes with low quality focuser and finderscope. Even to adjust the finderscope is a challenging task for this scope. It comes with 4mm eyepiece that gives 250x zoom and 3x barlow lens both are useless. The scope can't provide such high magnification (Celestron knows that). Celestron is cheating the customer. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCOP!!!!
Thank you so much for pointing out the specific limitations for the Power Seeker. I have this telescope and will consider your valuable feedback if I ever do a review of it in the future. Clear skies!
Just remove the internal Barlow lens from inside of the focuser draw tube 🔭. I never use the Barlow lens should be 25-60 power per inch diameter of the objective lens
Powerseeker or astromaster telescopes are actually not recommend for beginners. They are actually on many telescope black lists. There are much better telescopes like Skywatcher or Orion for the same price.
I'd love to add a PowerSeeker 127 to my growing scope collection. I currently own 6 scopes ranging from a 2.8" f/6 ED doublet to a 12" f/4.9 Dob, but I believe the 127 would feel a niche role that I'm missing in my scope storage room at the moment.... a trash can!! That's right, I'd love to find a Celestron PowerSeeker 127 or even a 114 to turn into a small telescope themed waste basket for my gear room.
Ed Ting agrees.
Good to see you back :) I learned a lot from your previous videos.
I haven't watched your video yet but just wanted to say great to see you back!! I'm sure I'll enjoy watching this like I did all your other great uploads.
You're alive!! Haha nice upload man
Glad you're back!!
I love your videos, very informative and straight to the subject, but i disagree with the " beginner friendly scopes " like the power-seeker 127 u mentioned, which is a hobby killer, stay away from that.
Yikes I have that telescope. Thanks for the feedback. Clear skies!
Indeed, i wouldn't recommend a Celestron Astromaster 70 either, since there's way more attractive options even in that price range.
Glad you're back with a new video.
Happy to be back. Thanks for watching.
My 8 x 50 RACI finder has crosshairs. While the intersecting point is in the center of view, the actual crossing "hairs" are not in line with the finder. Is this normal and of little significance, or is there a way to rotate the crosshairs?
That sounds like a defect in the finder scope but should be of little significance.
Well made video, for even beginners like me. Learning so much. Thanks for sharing!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This video is quite old. It will not be missing of proper advice. Capturing analog information is something Smarter Every day 2 has been doing. I spent all day today watching analog camera recovery and learning about Kodak chemical process. All this stuff is so incredibly cool.
HI, What do you think about Mounting it on an AQ mount, and which one would you recommend for Intellescope 10 inch Dobsonian(Orion Skyquest?
I suppose you could try to mount it as long as the mount can support the weight and you're okay using a step ladder to look through the eyepiece :)
As a rank beginner, I get frustrated when unfamiliar terms are not explained properly. Yours is the first video I've seen that translates Astronomy into plain English. Thank you!
I'm glad you liked the video. Clear skies!
Excellent video, and a great channel! Thanks so much for sharing your experience, Michael, in all of your astronomy videos. Every video I have seen on this channel is excellent. I just started sketching the sunspots I see while observing the Sun (yes, I have a full aperture solar filter), and 2 days later this pops up. Great tutorial! All the best, Buddy!!
That's awesome. Sun spot sketching sounds really challenging but fun. Thanks for watching!
Good video. btw folks details of how to make the light shroud are on his website. Thanks for the New Astronomer.
Thank for pointing it out. I almost forgot I had it there. Here is the link: newastronomer.com/diy-custom-shroud-for-12-sky-watcher-flextube/
Where did you get that light shroud for that telescope? Please answer.
I bought it from a linen store and cut it to size. There are instructions on my site: newastronomer.com/diy-custom-shroud-for-12-sky-watcher-flextube/
First time viewer, thank's for a clear and informative video!
Happy to get a first time viewer. Thanks for watching.
well atm all i have are plossles. i open them up, wash the glass in warm water and Dawn, rinse in distilled water and alcohol, blow dry with a compressor (@30psi) clean any dust with a satin cloth - re assemble - good to go.
Thanks for sharing your advice. Clear skies!
Very usefull
Research the true flat earth TOPIC now!!
That 2" 24mm eyepiece looks like a bleeping club😂. It's huge.
